Larose Forest Bio-Blitz
The Larose Forest BioBlitz provided a
significant amount of new information about the flora and fauna of Larose Forest. New data was
added to existing inventories, and baseline data for taxonomic groups not previously surveyed
was accumulated. This information will enable forest managers and others to gain greater
insights into the best ways to manage the forest for both forestry and wildlife concerns.

Osprey Platform at Atocas Bay
Prescott-Russell Stewardship Council volunteers erected an Osprey platform at Atocas Bay, in Lefaivre. Hopefully, the impressive birds will build their imposing nest at the top of the structure in the upcoming years.

Alfred Birding Trail
The Prescott-Russell Stewardship Council and the Municipality of the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet are developing a Bird Watching Circuit in Eastern Ontario.

Envirothon
The Envirothon championships are
considered to be the Environmental "Olympic Games". The program
encourages young people enrolled in high
school to learn more about the environment
through hands-on outdoor activities.

Eastern Ontario Children's Water Festival
Grade 4 students and teachers (as well as
combined grade 3-4 and 4-5 classes) were
invited to participate in a unique learning
experience at the Eastern Ontario
Children’s Water Festival (EOCWF).

Stewardship Rangers
Each year, young Ontarians find
employment as Stewardship Rangers. The
Prescott-Russell Stewardship Council
welcomed five youths from this initiative to
work in the Alfred and Lefaivre regions
throughout the summer.

Bog to Bog
The Bog to Bog Project, financed by the
Ontario Trillium Foundation, creates a
partnership with landowners. The main
objective is to protect isolated natural zones
and connect them thanks to a series of
forest corridors.

Water Well Identification
The Agricultural Adaptation Council of Ontario
provided a grant in the amount of $26,000 to the
Prescott-Russell Stewardship Council and the
Union des Cultivateurs franco-ontariens for the
start-up of the Water Well Identification in
Rural Areas project and the awareness
campaign “Water for Future Generations.”

Creek Restorations
In collaboration with landowners, the
Prescott-Russell Stewardship Council is
working on the restoration of the
Hawkesbury and Azatica creeks.

The Stewardship Council is setting up an information
kiosk at many different events.
