The Bog to Bog Project
The Bog to Bog Project, financed by the
Ontario Trillium Foundation, creates a
partnership with landowners. The main
objective is to protect isolated natural zones
and connect them thanks to a series of
forest corridors.
The project aims to help
landowners to understand how their property
is a precious part of our natural landscape.
The project works mainly with lands located
between the Mer Bleue and Alfred Bogs,
passing through Larose forest until reaching
Voyageur Park, north of Highway 417.
Re-introduction of ginseng in private
woodlots is one demonstration site within
the network of sites in the Bog to Bog area.
It offers landowners an alternative, nontraditional
forest practice that has proven to
be lucrative in other parts of Canada and the
United States.
The Stewardship Council
developed a study project and the
demonstration site, thanks to the expertise
of Dr. Simon Lachance from the Alfred
College. |
