Highlights of Past Projects

Park Lake Drop Inlet Structure

This was one of our Council’s first projects. In partnership with the Lanark Fish and Game Conservation Club, this project installed a permanent drop inlet structure to maintain an acceptable water level, protecting the ecological values within the Park Lake watershed. Until this structure was put into operation the levels of this watershed were controlled by a piece of plywood in front of a culvert. Inherently this area was subject to human manipulation with very little thought given to habitat protection. An important outcome of this project was to create public awareness of the need to value the sensitive aquatic environment of this area.
