Highlights of Past Projects

Envirothon

Envirothon continues to be a very successful project with our area high schools. In 2008 we had 4 high schools and approximately 80 students and teachers involved in this program that is designed to assist students in learning more about what is happening in the environment and how human actions affect that environment. “The Environmental Olympics ”provide teaching from professionals in forestry, aquatics, soils, wildlife as well as a current environmental issue. Through workshops, regional, provincial and North American competitions, students receive hands-on field testing to develop critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills. In 2008, our team from Carleton Place High School won the local challenge and represented Lanark County in the provincial competition.
