Chippen Hook Creek

Update July, 2005:

A stream assessment was conducted on the Chippen Hook Creek to determine the overall health of the creek using the Leeds County Stewardship stream assessment protocol. A restoration plan has been prepared outlining opportunities and issues. Council has decided that benthic testing would complete the report and will follow up in the fall.

Annual Report 2003:

The Grenville Land Stewardship Council continues to concentrate its efforts to improve the water quality and the riparian areas of the Chippen Hook Creek.

Water temperatures were monitored throughout the summer of 2003 to determine the suitability of the creek for fish habitat.

In partnership with Maynard Public School and the Ontario Works program, 1500 wildlife shrubs were planted in the spring of 2003 along the riparian areas of the creek. Funding was provided by the Community Wildlife Improvement Fund.

Annual Report 2002:

A one-day water quality training session was organized by the Grenville Land Stewardship Council on July 4, 2002. Students involved with the Ontario Stewardship Ranger Program and members of the Grenville Land Stewardship Council were trained to assess water quality.

Water quality was assessed along the Chippen Hook Creek with future plans to continue assessments at other locations along the creek.
